Bette Byrd, MDA, worked as a decorative artist in many capacities. She served as president of the Society of Decorative Painters, and for many years she owned and ran a craft store, working as an art teacher and consultant. She wrote numerous books for tole and decorative painters. She also helped develop FolkArt® acrylic paints for Plaid Enterprises. (To visit Plaid's website, click on the banner below.) Then, in 1980, Bette developed a line of high-quality decorative painting brushes, and started Bette Byrd Brushes. In January of 2001, Bette succumbed to emphysema. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and her many, many friends.
Bette's legacy will be carried on by her son Bill and daughter-in-law Sue, who are dedicated to upholding the high standard of quality that was a part of all her life's work.
